Here we explain how Auxiliary battery saver works in Hyundai Kona Electric and Hyundai Ioniq Electric. this technology helps to keep your 12V battery stay charged at its optimal charging state at all the time. let’s take a closer look.
Auxiliary Battery Saver in Hyundai Kona Electric
Kona Electric has two battery systems. the high voltage EV battery that is part of the powertrain, and a small 12V battery for lighting windshield wipers and other accessories. the vehicle automatically monitors the charge level of the smaller battery with its auxiliary battery saver. if the level is low, it charges the 12-volt battery from the EV battery.
If the auxiliary battery saver works when the vehicle is off. an indicator light illuminates in the Hyundai H badge on the front of the vehicle.
This simply means that the EV battery is in use. it may also come on if you’ve set charge management to power up climate controls just before you drive off. this is normal and does not mean that the vehicle is switched on. if the auxiliary battery saver was activated when your vehicle was off, when you get back in and started you’ll see a message on the LCD to let you know. there’s nothing more you need to do. you’re good to go
Auxiliary Battery Saver in Hyundai Ioniq Electric
As same as the Kona EV, Hyundai Ioniq EV also has two battery systems. the high voltage EV battery that is part of the powertrain, and a small, 12V battery for lighting, windshield wipers, and other accessories. The vehicle automatically monitors the charge level of the smaller battery with its Auxiliary Battery Saver Plus. If the level is low it charges the 12V battery from the EV battery. If that happens when the vehicle is off and the indicator light illuminates in the dash charging indicator.
If the Auxiliary Battery Saver was activated when your vehicle was off, when you get back in and start it, you’ll see a message on the LCD to let you know. The Auxiliary Battery Saver Plus feature will be on when you take delivery of the vehicle from your dealership, but if you ever choose to turn it off, you can turn it off in the user settings menu. In the LCD screen go to user settings, then other, then aux battery saver plus. Here you can turn the function on or off, it’s that simple.
